Hello!

It has been ten years since I have written a blog post. I’m not sure I could find the original one that I had. I rather not look back and find the cringe worthy things I may have said. I’ve always envied people that wrote well. I don’t intent to write too much in every post but I often find myself rambling. I hope this gives more insight into me and what I hope to share in this space of mine.

I am committed to finding the time to post to this a few times a month. I plan to share full sessions, print resources that I love, tips on taking care of your newly invested memories and much more. I find it hard to want to be another page on social media to scroll through. I often find myself wasting SO much time so I am hoping this is a source for you to find useful, not just a place for pretty photos.

A little about me to start off…

I started photography in high school. I like to say photography found me when I picked up a film camera we had in our home. I was babysitting for a family at the time and after school I would nanny for them. I brought the camera with me one day and photographed the baby I cared for. I took that roll of film to our local drug store and when I received that roll of film back, I was so happy with the results. I always had to work hard in school, it did not come easy to me so when photography did, I clung to it. It was an outlet which I desperately needed even though I didn’t know it at the time.

I took the only photography course four times over in college because they didn’t offer any others. I remember spending hours on hours in the photography lab printing large fine art prints. Instantly I fell in love with Hahnemule Paper, if you don’t know what that is, it is beautiful fine art paper which is now incorporated into my packaging because of my love for it. It is matte, raw and prints impeccably. The paper is art itself.

After college I started my business and worked for a photograph studio in La Jolla and Solana Beach. It was my time to soak in as much as I possibly could to start building my business. I started my business in 2010 and by January of 2012, I dove in full time. Between getting married, starting my family, dealing with health issues and the changes of our world today there have been many obstacles in between. I had taken an almost three year break from photography due to back injuries that occurred during the birth of my second baby. December 2021 was my first season back in business full swing. I feel like I have just jump backed into it like I did when I first began. Although slightly intimidating to navigate social media and a web presence, I am excited for it. I know I will not be perfect all the time but who is. There is so much more to offer clients and my goal is to focus on the simplicity of what matters. I think we can get lost in the “stuff” that is available to us and my hope is that you walk away from an experience wanting to do it again.

Below are the very first photos I took when I picked up a camera in 2004 - my senior year of high school.
