Meet the woman behind the lens

Photography found me

My photography journey began in high school when I took a camera sitting in our home and started photographing the family I was babysitting for. I remember taking my first roll of film to the local drug store to be developed and the feeling I received when I got them back is something I’ll never forget.

Photography came naturally to me. I fell in love with being able to jump into the lives of those in front of my camera and create something beautiful for them.

From the corporate world to the photography world

In college, I took the only photography course they offered four times over. After graduating, I was working part time for a corporation and studying for a nursing program. After realizing nursing was not what I wanted to do, I decided to start my photography business in 2010. Once I made the jump to focus on my photography education and building a business, I went to work for a photography studio in San Diego. I spent that year consuming everything I needed to know in order to successfully put everything into my own business. I’ve had incredible mentors along the way. Each helped educate and guide me in creating the business I have today. In 2011, I fully immersed myself in my business and I have not looked back.

“I don’t have enough words to say what an incredible photographer Elise is.

She started photographing my family when my son was a newborn, and has continued to do so as my family has grown. I remember the first time I saw the gallery Elise sent I honestly couldn’t believe she was able to capture what she did—the pictures were amazing! Elise has a magic to her that I have never seen in a photographer before, and her love for what she does shines through her work. I feel so lucky that we have had the opportunity to use Elise time and time again, and I highly recommend her to anyone I meet!”

The most important thing

Aside from photography, my greatest joy is being a mom. To say I love babies is an understatement. I have always wanted to work with children and my love for art was the perfect recipe for specializing in family and newborn photography. There is nothing more I love than capturing moments that my clients feel but don’t necessarily have the words for.  Imagery gives us the ability to visualize feelings and recall moments in time. To me, photography is just as much about capturing you as you are now as it is for future generations.

I have spent the last 12 years jumping into the lives of my clients. Photographing styles I loved and ones that helped launch me to learn what I didn’t. Much of my photography is built around a style that has evolved through trial and error. I think what sets me apart from other San Diego photographers is being consistent throughout the generations. It is important to me that I create art that is relevant in color and style today as it will be many years from now.

It’s inevitable. Your babies will grow up.

The images we capture together will stop time and allow you to live for yesterday, today and tomorrow.
