FAQs

 Family FAQs

  • All of my outdoor sessions typically take place during golden hour to capture the most beautiful time of day. This lands 45 minute to 1 hour prior to sunset. During the winter months, this can be an issue because the sun sets early and interferes with after school activities. I highly recommend families contacting me during the summer to schedule their holiday sessions for this reason. I have a very limited amount of weekend dates available during the year.

  • It looks best if families choose 2-3 colors and work within those tones. I assure you, mixing cool and warm pastels with earth tones highlight your family better than choosing to wear all white or black. For more details please see my blog post HERE for “What to wear for a family photo shoot.”

  • Pets are welcome however I highly recommend bringing extra hands to help with any pets you bring to our session. While I love incorporating pets, they are often harder than toddlers. The session will start off with your pet, once we get those images we will then spend the rest of the session focusing on your family unit. I come ready to move and run so as much as I would love to be able to capture and hold the leash at the same time, I find it limits my ability to produce the array of images I would like to so I ask that you make arrangements for someone to watch your pet for the time we are not shooting with him or her.

  • My style is timeless and genuine. I utilize soft light, movement and true colors. I do my best to marry the perfect amount of candid images and posed within a gallery. My ultimate goal is to provide you with images that will stand the test of time and never age with the trends that come in and out.

  • Just yourselves ready to love one another! Please leave cell phones, sunglasses, watches and purses hidden safely in your car. I will have a camera bag and am happy to hold your keys.

  • I have a list of favorites here (top beach locations) and here (top trail/inland locations).

  • Yes! Studio sessions have my heart. I have had a studio for as long as I have been in business however in the last year I let my studio go. I LOVE a simple and pure studio session and have access to leasing one for the day for your session. If you would like a studio session, please reach out and let me know you are looking for a studio location.

  • Sessions fees vary depending on the type and package you choose. The average client spends between $1,200-$3,000.

  • Absolutely! I do not over edit images however if you have specific requests, please let me know beforehand so I can address them. I do not remove braces or glasses.

  • My galleries are a good mix between candid and posed photos. If there are specific groupings you would like, please let me know. In all cases, I photograph all combinations such as everyone together, mom & dad, siblings, parents with each child etc.

  • Your gallery will be ready within 2-4 weeks after our session. During the holiday months, turnaround times take a little longer. The amount of images you will receive in a gallery varies between 50-100 images, sometimes more.

  • You are welcome to bring whomever you would like to be included in our session. I ask that if you do, please let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. I love when families include extended family. It is a special time to capture everyone together, especially grandparents!

Maternity FAQs

  • I encourage maternity clients to schedule their session between 28-32 weeks in pregnancy.

  • Yes! When you purchase both sessions, you will receive $100 off each session as well as $150 additional print credit to each session. I also offer a 1 year membership that includes 4 sessions with all the digital files and an heirloom album. Click here to learn more.

  • Most importantly you need to feel comfortable. How you feel about your outfit choice will reflect in the images. Earth tones and soft palettes are my choice of color and allow for me to see you rather than what you are wearing. Clothing need not match, just blend and not distract. Flowy dresses and layers photograph beautifully. Babies usually end up naked and someone may end up wet so bring an extra shirt.

Dressing children can be difficult, they often have their own plans on what they want to wear. My best advice is to give controlled options that work within your chosen color palette. I am not beneath bribery. It works well in this situation as long as it isn’t messy food during our session.

Bright color or chipped nail polish should be avoided.

  • My studio, an outdoor location of your choice (I have a list of favorite spots I have scooped out over the years) or your home.

Newborn FAQs

  • I recommend reaching out as soon as possible because I take a limited amount of newborn clients each month to accommodate for a flexible schedule. Babies come on their own time so I pencil your due date into my calendar knowing that it is a placeholder. If baby comes early or late, we will work around it. Once baby arrives, I ask that you let me know as soon as possible so we can finalize your session date within the first two weeks of your baby’s life.

  • I assist clients as little or as much as clients need with styling. If requested, I will send links to items I think are best suited for photo shoots based on your individual style.

  • Whether you choose a studio session or lifestyle, in-home session, I bring the same. My newborn style is timeless and simple by highlighting baby and the connection between you and your baby. I do pose baby in dreamy poses using delicate wraps, blankets and knit bonnets.

  • Most sessions last between 1.5-2 hours depending on how much cuddling and feeding baby needs.

  • Absolutely! Newborn sessions can be scheduled within the first 6 weeks. For those sweet sleepy newborn photos, ideal timing is between 10-18 days old.
